<p>I also wanted to take a moment to point you to the <a href="http://www.siobhandowdtrust.com/">Siobhan Dowd Trust</a>.&nbsp; Before she died, Siobhan arranged for all of her earnings from her books to be put into a trust, which now does AMAZING charitable work getting books into the hands of those young readers who might not be able to afford it.&nbsp; Definitely <a href="http://www.siobhandowdtrust.com/">have a look</a>, a very good thing.</p>

        <![CDATA[<p>Hey, guys sorry for a delayed update, but I'm working, I'm working!&nbsp; There's a TON of fantastic stuff in the planning stages, and I'm also writing like crazy, so just bear with me.&nbsp; And I'll try to keep these entries from being so all-fired boring and business-like all the time!</p>
<p>First, though, don't forget <a href="http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=1401">Wednesday</a> is my <a href="http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=1401">event</a> with illustrator extraordinaire <a href="http://www.jimkay.co.uk/Jim_Kay_Illustrator/Welcome.html">Jim Kay </a>about <a href="http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Shop/Detail.aspx?itemId=6920668">A Monster Calls</a> at <a href="http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=1401">Foyles Charing Cross</a> in London (so for all of those who've been annoyed that I hardly ever seem to do London events despite living here, I've finally got one!).&nbsp; Tickets are free, reserve them <a href="http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=1401">here</a>.&nbsp; Seems to be a nice crowd already.&nbsp; And in the meantime, they've got an <a href="http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=1402">exhibition of Jim's drawings</a> on as well.&nbsp; </p>

        <![CDATA[<p>One of my very favourite writers died this week, the amazing, amazing, amazing <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/dec/14/russell-hoban?intcmp=239">Russell Hoban</a>.&nbsp; His <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Riddley-Walker-Russell-Hoban/dp/074755904X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1324054611&amp;sr=8-1">Riddley Walker</a> is a big influence on the trilogy, and one of the most incredible books of the last fifty years.&nbsp; I had the honour to contribute a note to his <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/dec/14/russell-hoban?intcmp=239">obituary </a>in the <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/dec/14/russell-hoban?intcmp=239">Guardian</a>.&nbsp; He's someone you might want to seek out.</p>
<p>I've also realised that I haven't heard much from you guys about the <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monster-Calls-Patrick-Ness/dp/1455822485/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1324054648&amp;sr=1-1">A Monster Calls audiobook</a>.&nbsp; It's read by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Isaacs">Jason Isaacs</a> (Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter films), and it's really good!&nbsp; If you like audiobooks, and I know a few of you do, <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monster-Calls-Patrick-Ness/dp/1455822485/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1324054648&amp;sr=1-1">check it out</a>.</p>

        <![CDATA[<p>It turns out <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monster-Calls-Patrick-Ness/dp/1406311529/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1323769962&amp;sr=8-1">A&nbsp;Monster Calls</a> was discussed very nicely on <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0183tsv">Front Row</a> on <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0183tsv">Radio 4</a> last night.&nbsp; You can listen to it <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0183tsv">here</a>; it's the <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0183tsv">Meryl Streep episode</a>.&nbsp; Meryl (can I call her Meryl?) is on until about the 17 minute mark, and then children's books get discussed.&nbsp; Nice.</p>
<p>Also, lots of comments and twitter queries about the Chaos Walking movies, particularly about casting!&nbsp; Yes, I know, I know, I do, and if and when there are auditions, trust me, I will let everyone know.</p>
