Welcome to the Diary page

Welcome

Welcome, finally, to my website. Here's info on me, my books and other writings, what I'm up to, and the inevitable deeply self-absorbed blog. Visit, graze, leave a comment, then go out into the sunshine and read.

No news, it's the silly season, so allow me to be silly and correct things that only I care about, eh?

First, Neil Gaiman won the Hugo Award last week for The Graveyard Book, and good for him.  I can say this because I reviewed it for the Guardian and said all sorts of nice things about it.  One thing I did not say, however, was that it was a 'deathly delight'.  That was only in the tagline of the review, provided by a sub-editor, and not in the review itself.  'Deathly delight' isn't really my style.

Now that that's off my chest, I'd also like to point out that my official time for the 10k race I did on Saturday is off by 41 seconds (I really ran 49:42) because my Garmin lost its satellites before the start, and I had to wait 41 seconds to start while the stupid thing rebooted.  This is true.  I still beat Brian Paddick, though.
